Stillness
In stillness, I sit
My spirit drops
into my body
My timid feet
weary
like a dear who waits
and wonders
do I want to be here
The earth answers
a pulse of buzzing energy
like a drumbeat
up through my feet
you are alive
In stillness, I notice
My back relaxes
My ears open, they hear
the rhythmic hum
of the cicadas
Soothing me
And I let them
